Privacy policy

This document describes how the Palestra app and this website handle data. It is short because the app collects very little: it has no user account, no server and no analytics.
In one sentence. Palestra's publisher runs no server and receives none of your data: your sessions, profile and photos stay on your device and, if you use iCloud, in the private space of your Apple Account.

2. What we don't collect
The app has no account system: no sign-up, no email address, no password. No third-party analytics, advertising, behavioral tracking or crash-reporting library is built in, and the app doesn't use the device's advertising identifier.
The publisher runs no application server: there is no remote database holding your sessions.
If you agreed in iOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass anonymized technical crash reports on to the publisher. That sharing is Apple's and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
3. The data you enter
To work, the app stores what you enter in it: exercises and variants, sessions (loads, reps, RPE, rest times), templates and programs, and your profile — goal, weight, height, age, biological sex, activity level, nutrition targets, the constraints and injuries you mention, and body measurements and progress photos if you add any.
Some of this information may qualify as health-related data. It is processed only to make the app work, on your device and in your iCloud, and is never sent to the publisher or to any third party.
4. Where your data lives
All of this data is stored in the app's own container on your device. The app works entirely offline.
You can export all of your data to a JSON file at any time, from the app's settings (Backup → Export my data).
5. Services the app exchanges data with
The app relies exclusively on Apple services built into the system. No third-party service is involved, and no data is sent to the publisher.

6. iCloud sync
When you're signed in to iCloud, your data syncs between your devices through your Apple Account's private database (CloudKit). The publisher has no access to that database; the data there is protected by Apple as part of your iCloud account.
To turn sync off, open Settings → [your name] → iCloud and switch off Palestra among the apps using iCloud. Data that has already synced can be deleted from your iCloud storage management.
7. Apple Health
At your request, and only if you allow it, the app reads your latest weight and height from Health to prefill your profile. On iOS 26 and later, it can also save your sessions to Health as strength training, along with active energy burned.
Data from Health is never used for advertising or shared with third parties. You can revoke these permissions at any time in the Health app → Sharing → Apps → Palestra.
8. Coach and Apple Intelligence
The Coach uses the Apple Intelligence language model, running on the device. Your messages, along with the profile and history details relevant to the answer, are processed locally: they are sent neither to the publisher nor to any third-party AI service.
The Coach's proposals are generated automatically and are only saved once you confirm them.
9. Progress photos
Progress photos are optional. You pick them one by one with the system photo picker: the app has no access to the rest of your photo library. They are stored with your other data and synced the same way.
10. Notifications
End-of-rest notifications and the timer shown on the Lock Screen are handled locally by the device. No notification server is used.
11. In-app purchases
The app is free. Should in-app purchases ever be offered, they would be processed by Apple through the App Store: the publisher would receive neither your payment details nor your Apple Account.
12. This website and the waitlist
If you enter your email address on this website, it is stored with the page language and the sign-up date in a database hosted by Cloudflare and managed by the publisher. It is used only to let you know when the app launches and about major updates, and is never shared with any third party. A deletion request sent to contact@hedwin.fr is handled promptly.
This website sets no cookies and loads no external resources: no remote fonts, no analytics scripts, no embedded content. Its host, Cloudflare, processes technical request data (including IP addresses) to serve and protect it.
13. Your rights
The General Data Protection Regulation grants you the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction and objection. For app data, you exercise these rights directly: the data is on your device and in your iCloud, and you can view, edit, export or delete it without asking us. For the waitlist, write to us.
You may lodge a complaint with your data protection authority — in France, the CNIL.
14. Minors
The app is not intended for people under sixteen and does not knowingly collect any data about them.
15. Changes
This document may change as the app evolves. The last-updated date appears at the top of the page. Any substantial change to how data is handled would be announced in the app.
